Strikeforce Confirms April 17 in Nashville, Announcement Next Week

by Michael David Smith Filed under: Strikeforce Mixed martial arts fans have been anxiously awaiting word about what’s next for Strikeforce, which has been rumored to have another big card on CBS coming up in April. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed Thursday that Strikeforce will have a card in Nashville on April 17 but said fans will have to wait just a little bit longer for any details. “We’ve been putting most of our efforts into the fight tomorrow night,” Coker said of the Strikeforce Challengers card on Friday in San Jose. “But we’ll have some announcements next week, for sure. … We will be having a fight in Nashville on April 17, but the rest of the information we’ll be announcing next week.” Strikeforce Confirms April 17 in Nashville, Announcement Next Week originally appeared on MMA Fighting on Thu, 25 Feb 2010 18:09:00 EST . Meanwhile, his opponent, Brett Rogers , was in Bristol, Conn., doing the ESPN media rounds , and telling anyone who would listen that he is going to shock the world this weekend. But Fedor doesn’t speak English and isn’t well known in the United States, and that means promoting the CBS show will fall in large part on other fighters on the card. Jake Shields and Jason “Mayhem” Miller , who will meet for the Strikeforce middleweight title, say they embrace that opportunity. “Strikeforce is the right promoter to bring MMA to the mainstream,” said Shields, who fought twice on CBS last year under the EliteXC banner. “It’s really important to us to make this successful.
