Matt Ryan Guides Falcons Past Ravens as Atlanta Pass Offense Blossoms

Filed under: Atlanta Falcons , Ravens , NFC South ATLANTA — The Falcons would have to be multi-purpose on offense another day. Their identity as solid citizens of the run game was tossed out the window Thursday night, and they became the Patriots , the Saints and whatever other liberal offense you can recall. Ryan Air is the name of a discount airline in Europe, but it was also what the Falcons called themselves, for one night at least. They threw the ball 50 times. Michael Turner , their 1,000-yard running back, was used as a blocking back. Turner got just 39 yards rushing, but Ryan completed 32 of 50 throws, both career highs. He threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Roddy White (with Ryan, right) with 20 seconds to play for the winning points in Atlanta’s 26-21 win over Baltimore, but that corner route is not the pass and catch to remember. Earlier in the possession, the Falcons looked like they were down to their final two plays. It was third-and-10 from their 20 with less than a minute to play.
