Albert Pujols Might Never Need Tommy John Surgery

Filed under: Cardinals , NL Central , MLB Injuries For the last three winters, the health of Albert Pujols ‘ right elbow has been perhaps the most important variable in the Cardinals ‘ offseasons. After the end of the 2007 season, there were rumors that Pujols very nearly needed Tommy John surgery on the elbow, but he put it off to try and play through the problem. Since then, he’s had surgeries on the elbow after the season in both 2008 and 2009, and with those two surgeries comes good news; it now appears that Pujols’ elbow is healthy enough that he’ll never need the more serious ligament replacement surgery , according to statements he made to MLB.com.
