Tuesday afternoon, in the midst of a frigid January afternoon, the cockles of many U.S. fans were warmed in an instant on an audaciously incredible volley scored by Clint Dempsey in the dying stages of Fulham’s 3-2 Premier League loss to Stoke City. The 85th minute goal immediately lit up the American soccer blogosphere and Twitter-verse.
