Superstar Forwards Will Lead Russian Hockey

Filed under: Russian Hockey , Olympic Hockey The Russian Olympic Hockey Team was announced today, with very few surprises. NHL all-star and Stanley Cup-winner Alexei Kovalev failed to make the cut. Russian head coach Vyacheslav Bykov is said not to be a fan of Kovalev, still playing well at age 36 in his first year with the Ottawa Senators . Otherwise, the biggest name not on the list is goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin . However, the goalies picked explain why the “Bulin Wall” — another all-star and owner of a Stanley Cup ring — was not chosen.
